The Shackleton & Moyana development is rooted in a rich maritime heritage — a legacy of resilience, exploration, and excellence that spans both land and sea.
A LEGACY OF EXPLORATION AND EXCELLENCE
The name Shackleton draws inspiration from the legendary explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton, whose courage and determination in the face of the unknown captured the spirit of true adventure. That same name was once given to part of this historic building when it formed the heart of the renowned Warsash Maritime Academy — a training ground for generations of seafarers preparing to navigate the world’s oceans.
Alongside Shackleton, Moyana brings a further layer of depth and meaning to the development. Named after the college’s very first training vessel, Moyana holds a notable place in maritime history. In 1956, she captured international acclaim by winning the inaugural International Sail Training Ship Race from Torbay to Lisbon — the very first tall ships race of its kind.
Together, Shackleton and Moyana are more than just residences — they are chapters in a remarkable story. Each apartment sits within a landscape shaped by decades of maritime training and global exploration, now thoughtfully reimagined for modern living. The architectural restoration, attention to detail, and respect for heritage all serve to preserve the past while creating a new legacy for generations to come.
